In November 2005, Russian National Centre of Photography will present results of an artistic and research project entitled Vassiliy Sokornov. Views of Crimea. Photographic exhibition and album - both dedicated to works of Vassiliy Nikandrovich Sokornov - represent an attempt to create the first full monographic research on work of this well known Crimean photographer.

Vassiliy Nikandrovich Sokornov, photographer and artist, is one of the most acclaimed masters of photography on the Southern shore of Crimea at the dawn of XX century, participant of many exhibitions in Russia and abroad.
The photographer has himself defined his specialization as ‘views of Crimea'. He devoted himself in photographing views of Yalta, Alupka, Simeyiz, Gurzuph, Bakhchisaray and Sevastopol. His creations successfully competed with images on postcards and in albums published by Russian and international publishing houses. A fine artistic taste and high professionalism in technical implication of work are characteristic of the images of this author. A special feeling of volume and depth of space in his photographs was achieved by using the technique of direct contact prints when the size of glass negative is the same as the size of the print. Each of the images contains a whole world full of details that can be contemplated endlessly.
